Homogeneous granulation of doped phosphor materials
Freeze Granulation is today used for commercial production of homogeneous granules for the production of oxides used as a ceramic phosphor plate for white illumination in LED Lighting. By using Freeze Granulation of the powder and binder mixture, compared with spray drying, it is possible to manufacture a homogeneous phosphor plate with optimal properties for to generate a soft and warm white light from high power LEDs.
Studies of photoluminescence has shown that nano-scale YAG phosphor powders emit a higher intensity of luminescence than that of sub-micro sized samples and by using Freeze Granulation nanoparticles will be kept as nanosized in sintered product. Therefore, it is expected that glass-ceramic phosphor is a promising candidate for realization of resin-free, high-temperature and high-humidity resistant, long-lifetime white LED devices.
